Waleed Alrumaih is the Director of KAPSARC (King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center) Energy Data & Modeling Section. Additionally, He leads two of KAPSARC research focus areas: the Energy Efficiency the Solar program. Also, he is an expert in simulating and modeling of power systems and capable of analyzing energy performance indices (development and implementation). He is the founder of the Saudi Aramco Energy Conservation Program.
He is also well known in the technology transfer arena. He also maintains connection with key government officials in the energy efficiency field.
He has more than 28 years of experience in engineering/design and technical/business consulting focused on cost reduction through improving power efficiency. He received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Portland, Oregon, in 1981, and an MS in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri Rolla in 1986. Since 1982, He has been employed with Saudi Aramco, where he has worked in various engineering areas such as Computer System Analysis at the Exploration and Petroleum Engineering Center (EXPEC), Project Management, Consulting Service Dept, and Powell Elec. Manufacturing in Houston. In the professional society, He assumed many positions, such as Secretary and Vice President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Saudi Section (1997-2001), the Treasurer then the Chairman of the Saudi Council of Engineers, Electrical Society (1997 – Current). |
